The troops deployed to enforce the state of emergency declared by President Goodluck Jonathan in some northern states have gained significant ground in their latest offensive against the strongholds of the Boko Haram Islamic sect.
This was confirmed Sunday by the Director of Defence Information (DDI), Brig-Gen. Chris Olukolade who said that the troops have continued the advance and attack on identified terrorist camps in the Northern part of the country.
Olukolade disclosed that the insurgents have already deserted their camps with military patrols also ongoing to secure towns and villages from infiltration, while curfew imposed on identified flash points are being enforced.
