Going by tweetson the timeline of the Nation newspapers and a report on their site, military men this morning stormed the office of the Nation newspapers in Benin City and Warri and confiscated their publication for today. The soldiers from the3 Battalion of the Nigerian Army at Okwuokoko, Delta State seized avan conveying the days newspapers to Warri and Benin City.
According to the newspaper, a source close to the soldiers said theyare acting on orders from above. Continue…
In a related development,military officials this morning also confiscated todays edition of Leadership Newspaper heading to the Northwest, Southeast and South-South regions of the country. A road block mounted by soldiers at thetollgate along the Abuja-Kaduna expressway intercepted the van conveying the Leadership newspapers andconfiscated it.
No one knows yet the reason behind their actions but some people believe it is because of Tuesday, June 3rd publication on Leadership newspaper where it wasreported that nearly a dozen army generals and soldiers on lower ranks had been brought to trial for sabotaging the Nigerian governments onslaught against Boko Haram. This, the military vehemently denied immediately and even issued a press statement to that effect
