Klose Quits Germany Duty

Germany forward Miroslav Klose has announced his retirement from international football.

The 36-year-old is Germanys leading all-time scorer with 71 goals in 137 appearances. He was instrumental in his countrys triumph at this summer World Cup and broke Ronaldo De Limas scoring record in the semi-final against hosts Brazil with his 16th goal at the global showpiece.

I am happy and proud to have contributed to this big success for German football, said Klose.

Winning the title in Brazil was a childhood dream come true.

Klose, who also broke countryman Gerd Mullers 40-year-old record of 68 goals in June, made his debut in 2001.
