What to know from Wednesday's games:
Only one team clinched a spot in the next round, and it was Dortmund
There were several teams that had a chance of clinching, but only Dortmund could as Adrian Ramos scored the winner in the 1-0 victory over Sporting Lisbon. Dortmund joins PSG, Arsenal, Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid, who all clinched on Tuesday.
The result sees Dortmund go through with two games left and a fine chance to win the group. Real Madrid and Leicester City both looked like strong candidates to clinch on Wednesday as well but could only secure draws, one of which was shocking (see below a bit).
Real Madrid's result was nothing short of embarrassing
Look, practically every Real Madrid player is worth more than the entire Legia team. On paper, this is a 6-0 win for Real Madrid, and the Spanish club won the last meeting on Oct. 18, 5-1. So how in the world did they only get a 3-3 draw, needing a late goal from Mateo Kovacic to earn a point? Up 2-0 after 35 minutes, Real Madrid let their guard down as Legia scored some fine goals to lead 3-2 after 83 minutes, showing tremendous heart and spirit.
This was only the third time that Real Madrid surrendered a two-goal advantage in Champions League history, the last in 2002. Not good.
Leicester is in a good spot, Tottenham is not
If you can win at home and draw away, you are going to advance. So the 0-0 draw at Copenhagen wasn't terrible for Leicester City. The Foxes, in their first UCL campaign, lead Group G by 10 points, three more than Porto. Leicester just needs one more win to cement a spot in the next round but can do less and still clinch. They are in a great spot, but Tottenham is not. The Spurs are 1-1-2 in their four games and have just four points. Two points behind Bayer and four behind Monaco, the club is in trouble. If it doesn't get something going on the next matchday, it looks like it will crash out of the cup and end up in the Europa League.
